Abstract

This amicus brief was filed by the Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund, Environmental Defense Fund, Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, and Sierra Club Foundation, a coalition of non-profit organizations that have differing missions and areas of focus but share a common assessment that climate-related impacts pose significant and growing financial risks to investors, the capital markets, and the financial system. The brief argues that the rules are consistent with the Commission’s long-standing view that environmental information can be material to investment and voting decisions and that the rules are well supported by the record and promote investor protection, market efficiency, competition, and capital formation.
